FCP: Print to tape, HV30 wont show the picture

so i have a huge project in FCP and it needs to be exported to DVtape for like tomorrow haha. and ive run into a snag. When i hit print to tape, i choose 10sec of color bar and the count down, entire project and set it to auto play. then it renders it and i hit ok and the color bars show up on my screen and on my HV30 it starts to record but all i see is pitch black, i did get it to show the first frame but it never moved past the first frame or the blackness. however audio does record because when i play back i can hear the audio but all i see is black?!?!

how to i properlly hook up my HV30 to print to tape

BTW, im using a MBP and a FireWire 800 to 4 pin.
