Hi All,
Just curious if anyone else is using the new "Share" feature in the latest release of FCP? It's one of my favorite additions to the latest update...allowing the ability to upload to Facebook, burn a BluRay, send to Mobile Me, etc. One of the basic abilities it offers is the choice to burn a DVD, all of these options without doing the round trip to Compressor.
Here's my issue...I do a ton of local (TV) commercial production...and after upload to the station's FTP server or my Moblie Me account...I like to burn a few 480p copies for my clients and any actors/actresses that may have participated. It works GREAT...the first time, then it comes back...after the burn with a dialog box that asks basically..."Do you wanna burn another disc" or "Quit"...it's much easier and efficient to click YES, to burn another DVD. However...EVERY time I attempt to burn a second disc...it looks and sounds as it's doing the burn....all the way to about 96-98%....then it hangs, and keeps on spinning...10-20-30 minutes I've waited for it....to finalize a 30 second spot!!!! Inevitably, the only way I've found to actually stop the drive to Stop spinning is to reset the entire computer!!! Is there a better way to stop the drive? I've tried processes in Activity monitor, etc. Eject doesn't work....forcing quit FCP doesn't do the job....etc. And EVERYTIME I end up with a coaster. The first 25 seconds of the spot are fine...the last 3-5 seconds are corrupt.
Does anyone else use this feature? Has anyone else run in to this issue? Have you figured out a fix? If you haven't run in to the problem, does anyone mind giving it a try? Sorry...but this is as frustrating a quirk as I've found. I don't run in to many glitches in FCP...and I've been using the program for the past half decade or more...but this one really has me frustrated.
Thanks for looking, and reading my rant. Back to the edit bay...and the antiquated DVD Studio Pro to burn a disc!!! Ughhhh!!!!
Equipment used...Early '08 Mac Pro, 3.0ghz Octo, 16gigs RAM, Twin Super Drives (issue happens on both drives), and latest FCP suite with updates. OSX
10.6.5 with all pro app updates.
Thanks
J
