FCP wont recognize my video camera

When I connect my camera to my Mac using a firewire connection iMovie seems to recognize the connection but when I use FCP and click on Log n Capture I get the message: "Unable to initialize video deck." My capture settings is set to FireWire NTSC / DV NTSC 48 kHz.

Any clues?
