FCP X, how do you split events/clips?

HI,

I have a project with many video events on the timeline. I would like to split some of the events so that I can enhance the audio on certain sections but not on the whole clip. I can add keyframes/markers so that I can alter volume/gain in specific parts, but if I want to use other enhancements such as noise reduction it applies it to the whole clip. I would therefore like to split the clip into sections so that I can apply noise reduction etc one or more of the sections.
