Hello MacRumors:

Firstly, I just wanted to say that I'm a new member and I just joined today so hello to you all :)

Secondly, I'm here to ask about my problem I'm running into with FCP 7 and the clips I'm trying to work with!

I can import my clips (mp4 files), but as soon as I try to play them or drag them onto the timeline, I'll receive 2 pop-ups:
1st: "General Error"
2nd: "Error: Out of Memory"

I've never received this message with any other clips or projects I've worked on. My scratch disk is an external 1TB harddrive so I know it can't be that running out of space.
My suspicions involves where the clips came from but I'm not sure so I was wondering if someone here would be able to help!

My friend shot the clips on his Canon t1i camera..
I've read on a few other sites/forums that sometimes FCP isn't compatible with certain file names or file types...could this be the problem?

My friend has sent me files using the same camera once before and I didn't have this problem. I need help!! :(

I'm using a Macbook Pro -- 4GB ram; 250 GB harddrive; OS X...
