My Mac
Just wanted to know if anybody is running FCPX on a current version 15" MacBook Pro and how well does it run? Are you running it on a desktop as well and what's the comparison? Is it just okay?

2010 i7, 8GB RAM - perfect! My iMac is not supported, so I don't know how it works.
Have edited only DV and HDV so far though. Dunno about AVCHD.

Cool, thanks for the reply. My wife decided she wants to sell her iMac and get a 15" Macbook Pro. She does photo stuff and minor video editing and we'll probably share it for some FCPX use. I have it on my Mac Pro too but portability would greatly help in the field.

My friend runs his on a 2010 MBP 15"...he says it runs fine. Very little beachballing. And he is just amazed how much faster it is than FCP 7.

I guarantee that any current 15" MBP will run any current Apple software incredibly fast. Apple optimizes its software very well.

Anybody running FCP X on a 2011 MBP? Would be interested to hear about it!

I am! 15", lowest model. Blazing fast. I work with AVCHD, background processes never interfere with my work. Speed is one of the prominent features of this program, and it shows!

FCPX, Compressor, and Motion on the higher end 2011 15" w/ 8GB RAM. It flies. Way faster than FCP7. Well worth the money in my opinion. Then again I'm not a professional and don't play one on tv.

Doing sports with an HFS200 and HV30 being used for "filming".

Thanks for the replies, I'll be getting my 15" Macbook Pro soon. I'm looking forward to using FCPX on it.
