Hey guys. I've been playing with FCP X since it's release, and there's one question I've got that I can't find an answer to.

How do you apply an effect to a portion of a clip? Do you have to slice the clip and then apply it? I hope that's not the case...

I know there's a range selection tool, but I can't seem to apply an effect to a selected range.

Any help would be appreciated!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

Keyframe it or just cut the clip in half.

Use the razor blade and slice it into two clips or keyframe it. It works the same way as it always had in Final Cut Pro.

Throw a copy of the clip with out the effect in a layer above it and keyframe the opacity of that clip. IE: 0% opacity = full effect and 100% opacity = no effect.
