FCPX choppy timeline playback with new update.

I have the Mac mini 2018 and after updating FCPX my timeline scroller has choppy playback, skipping abruptly. Anyone else have this issue?

Apple shifted to using Metal for final cut pro in the latest version. I heard a slight performance drop is normal as they continue to optimize.

why they did that before surpassing the old API is beyond me
