hi. i have seen a few good telephoto FD lenses on ebay and was thinking of purchasing to use on my 400d - with mount (i cant really afford the EF lenses). I'm aware that i will lose the auto focus but was wondering will it affect the aperture and by how much, and is there anyway to get exposure readings. Any experiences/opinions would be appreciated... Thanks

One nice thing about the EOS mount is you attach about any manual lens to it with great results except the FD. It will require an optical adaptor. You may want to look for some used Nikons, Zeiss (Contax/yashica mount)
Olympus, Leica R or some others instead.
