This is a really useful feature on a few other vBulletin forums I visit:

Thanks

How often does one need to delete their own thread?

If you do need it deleted, report it.

It's just easier IMHO to be able to do it on your own in one click. Sometimes if I post something that's already been covered/in the wrong sub-forum/something I don't want up permanently for whatever reason, the feature comes in handy.

I don't think it needs to be a duty of a mod to delete threads/posts that don't necessarily violate forum rules, but that the writer just wants to delete for whatever reason within a reasonable time frame.

We used to allow that, but some users started discussions then deleted them after dozens of other users had participated. That wasn't fair to the other users, so we now require users to click Report Post and ask for a thread to be removed. The moderators don't mind, and they can judge if it makes sense to remove a thread, merge it with another thread, or whether it ought to stay as is for the sake of other users who have posted.
