Remind me, in the past, what feature(s) was kept secret in iOS betas until the GM was launched?

I'm sure their are plenty of others, but at this moment only these come to mind:

  • FaceTime
  • HDR Pictures
  • Voice Control

These two are not software features, but developers did have to code for this after the GM was released.

  • Retina Display
  • Gyroscope

HDR photos weren't kept a secret during Beta then unveiled with the release of the GM, HDR photos were added in the first .1 update to iOS 4.

So FaceTime was no in the betas but was first available in the iOS 4 GM. Is that correct?

To be fair, what would have been the point of putting FaceTime in any of the betas? The hardware didn't support it.

Indeed, in fact I can't think of any new feature in a GM that wasn't tied to the new hardware. If we do get voice recognition, I hope it's not limited to the iPhone 5.

It will be. Apple would have no reason to be keeping it a secret if it wasn't an iPhone 5 feature.

Plus Apple still needs to be able to talk about IOS 5 at this conference too. THey're not gonna say everything they already announced in June and not have extra stuff kept hidden.

They did that with Lion, most the features they talked about at WWDC were the same as they did at the preview event

WWDC was a while back, I'm sure they have had time to throw something in there that we are not 100% sure on. It's looking more and more solid that we will see a powerful nuance (oxymoron?) feature.
