Increased display, 2 cameras, 512mb RAM, new design and speaker, SD slot.

Also expecting them to put in the gyroscope from iP4 and iPt. Can't think of much else at the moment except any new software features that come in iOS 5.

I voted 2 Cameras, 512MB RAM, New design, New Speaker, SD Slot. I would love the storage to increase, mainly so I can get a 64GB iPad for the price of the current 32GB one.

I don't think we will get a higher res screen, but I do think we will get the iPhone 4's screen technology. By that I mean the way the 4's screen is built the LCD is closer to the surface of the glass than it was on the 3GS, which improves the way it looks. So using this production method the new screen will look better than the old one even with the same resolution.

I voted for two cameras, increased display, new design, and a SD Card slot. But the I think the design won't be too much different than the one we have right now. It'll probably just be thinner. And the display, it may only be slightly increased.

The stuff below will all be implemented, some with the iPad 2, some with the iPad 3, and some with the iPad 4, but I'm certain all of these will find their way into an iPad in the near future...

Retina display - iPad 3 or 4
Optically Laminated Display - iPad 2
2 cameras
- iPad 2: 1mp, with 720p and VGA
- iPad 3: 5mp, with 720p and VGA
- iPad 4: 8mp, with 1080i / p and 720p front facing camera.
512mb RAM - iPad 2
1gb ram - iPad 3
New design - iPad 2: Like iPod Touch 4
- iPad 3: Possibly Liquid Metal
New speaker - iPad 2
Sd slot - iPad 2 / 3
Mini/micro USB - iPad 3 / 4
3D Display - iPad 2, if Apple want to be the first (depends on how much optimus pad costs and if it'll release before April). iPad 4 if they want to wait for costs to go down and improve it (viewing angles).
Higher Contrast - iPad 2
A5 (based on A9 dual core) - iPad 2
A6 (based on A15 dual core) - iPad 3
A7 (based on A15 quad, or possible Tegra 4, but I doubt it.) - iPad 4
Tegra 2 standard graphics - iPad 2 / 3
Tegra 3 standard graphics - iPad 3 / 4
I don't think that Apple will change to the tegra chipsets, from the ARM processors; however, the Tegra 2 supports 3D, and a 3D tablet will be unique and will beat off Xoom, Galaxy Tab etc, (as long as it has a 5mp camera), and will have little competition, apart from the Optimus pad, which is rumoured to have a 3D display.

Retina display on iPad is not happening. Apple will try to improve display in certain ways, but will not increase resolution. They won't be able to meet the demands. It makes sense for them to do it in iPad 3.

SD card slot is 50/50.

The strong possibility is built in NFC chip which I don't give a crap about. It is going to be a feature that I do not and will not need.

Here is a mockup I made of an iPad 2 that has the exact same external dimensions as the iPad 1 but with a 11" 2048 x 1536 retina display screen, smaller bezel, front facing camera, and no home button.
Personally, I wouldn't want a smaller bezel: The bezel is a functional part of the iPad and allows you to hold it comfortably without accidentally registering screen presses

Same resolution
New case
512 mb ram
Dual core cpu
Single core gpu
New speaker
No SD slot
No Displayport out

ie Another incremental update from Apple, not spectacular, but just solid.

Personally I think if they remove the home button, then they will have the screen go fraught to the edge , or very close because that space isn't practical. And it won't look as nice, but this is all apple

1GB of RAM is pretty unlikely, especially since it's probably not necessary (at least not yet).
It'd be necessary if they double the resolution (quadruple the pixels), but I highly doubt that they will be doing that resolution change yet.

Its funny how so many people voted for a new design.

Personally, I love the design of the iPad.

What exactly can you do to the design?

I suppose it could be a little thinner and a little lighter, and maybe get rid of the black strip on the 3G model, but we're talking about a 9.7" capacitive multi-touch display housed in a piece of aluminum.

There are few products as elemental as the iPad.

They're able to change up the iPhone's design and its the same kind of thing.

It still amazes me that no one talks about increased CAPACITY in these types of threads. Although it's very unlikely the iPad 2 with go to 128 GB, it's certainly still a possibility - at least enough to be discussed and very desireable for some of us.

Also no mention of a new processor in the above poll, which is a certainty.

It's weird that right now, 30% of the people think the display will increase but less than doubled. To me, that possibility is zero. Too many apps would have to be reworked in less than a year from initial iPad release.

Honestly, none of those things are all that important to me, but maybe that's why I was never interested in the original iPad. I voted for "Other." I want to see Apple do something to add more "creation" functionality from a software standpoint (say, iLife implementation for starters). Now, if that requires more memory, better CPU, etc, then by all means. Whether that is realistic or not, I'm not sure. It certainly is from a technological standpoint, but I'm not sure if it is likely from a philosophical standpoint. The iPad is obviously very popular as is (a consumption device), so Apple may not try to rock the boat. I think it will be much more interesting to see what the next iPad will DO than what it will look like or what its specs will be.

Oh, and lighter and thinner would be nice too. The original iPad could definitely use a reduction in those areas.
