does anybody use fetch here?

every time I try to connect, it takes forever when it gets to the 'getting file list stage'

I do indeed have the site I'm trying to connect to in my firewall's exception list, and I've tried taking down the firewall alltogether

really, it takes like 5 minutes to get a file list

while connecting through old fetch in classic at the same time works very quickly

¿qué pasa?

I stopped using Fetch a few years back, then I used Interarchy (Great program) but now I use Transmit.

Look for them on versiontracker.com

same here. I stopped using fetch, and moved over the transmit. It works better, simple as that. You can also get it from the source: panic.com

I too use the newest os x version of transmit. I really like it better than fetch.

Fetch...

Yea, me too - i stopped using fetch a while ago when dartmouth sold the licensing and the code---it just hasnt been the same

You can always use the terminal tho hehe. :)

i use fetch all the time to update my website. dreamweaver's built-in ftp and fetch are my main ftp tools. those other ftp apps seem like they are designed for file sharing whereas fetch seems designed for what im doing. i dont think id like fetch for other tasks.

the problem you are having is explained on their website. but heres whats going on.

there is a bug in 4.01 version of fetch in osx that causes it to hang on file lists.

to correct open your preferences click on the firewall tab and click in the use passive mode transfers box. after that everything hould work fine.

since the developers talk about it on their website im sure they are working on fixing this soon. kinda annoying bug.

kewl :D
thanks bud

now i dont have to install a 2nd proggie

and I can keep the one that barks when file transfers are done :D :D

I thought Fetch was just a one guy with some code but it looks bigger that that (They have an add in MacTech (Vol.18 No 01 Feb2002)

I really like Interarchy, I might move back to that!

After reading this tread, even though I've used neither, I feel obliged to say:

I used to use Fetch, but I now use Transmit because it is better.

Phew, there. Can't get left out...

;)
