When I turn the iMac off, when I turn it back on, a few System Preferences arn't remembered.

1. Displays —> Brightness
I set it as dark as it can go, and it’s back to max brightness again.

2. View —> View folders as (icons/list/colums). When I change a folder view option to say a list, it changes back to icons after shuting the computer down and turning it back on.

How do you get the iMac to remember the changes after you shut it off? It's not all preferences that it doesn't remember, just a few. For example, I change my mouse tracking speed from fast to slow, and it remembers that when I turn it back on.

OS Version 10.5.3
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, aka, the newest iMac released.

er, actually on this one, it remembers way too well. It doesn't change back, but when I change one folder, and turn the computer off and back on, ALL folders are changed, instead of only the folder that I changed the view option on.
