Can some one please answer the following for me..

If I use Firefox USB Portable and Thunderbird USB portable applications on my iMac
when I remove the USB Thumb drive from my iMac containing both the above, would any passwords
that ive been using in both Firefox and Thunderbird be in any way left on my iMac and
could be traced ..? Thanks :)

I believe the applications store their data/preferences on the machine HD vs. on the local directory where they are being launched (that is why your Applications folder doesn't have your FF or TB data).

You can probably configured TB to store your mailboxes and account info on a directory on the USB drive, and just make sure to clear all the personal info from FF upon exit (in the security settings).
