It seems to be "untested" on the Crossover website
but surely someone here knows if Final Fantasy XI works with
it.

Thanks in advance.

bump. anyone know? i'm thinking about getting this game. or perhaps Cider (home brew, of course) port of FFXI?

First off let me start off by saying that FFXI is amazing, and fun. However, unless you are willing to spend 24hrs a day leveling your character, dont even start playing it. FFXI is an mmorpg for the hardcore player. It will take you close to a year+ of numerous hours/day leveling to reach max level. ALso if you get addicted to camping NM's kiss your real life goodbye.

Other than that have fun...

No clue about crossover/FFXI, but just thought id give you heads up on the game. It will consume you if you let it.

Are you some sort of retard, vkramer? It does not take 24 hours a day for a full year to reach Lvl. 75. I got to that level in FFXI Online within 3 months, and I didn't play 24 hours a day.

I need to test it with a recent build, but when I tried months ago I couldn't even get it to work correctly. I didn't bother messing with it for very long as I was testing other games as well. I'll try it again this weekend with a recent build of Crossover and see how it goes.

It really is an awesome game with a great story instead of just boring grinding. I find it to be the slowest paced MMORPG I've ever played, but it has the incredible presentation one would expect from a FF game.

Nope, still doesn't work. It seems to install fine, but the PlayOnline Viewer won't even launch. I tried the current stable version and the 20080813 build of CrossOver Games. Looks like it is still only PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, or Windows.

He was probably just exaggerating for the sake of delivering a point

Took me 3 years to get to 75... but I play slow and casual... + I played beastmaster and that's known for 3 steps forward and one step back by the means of experience points.

This is a few days off on replies but I thought I'd add in my own experience.

I have FFXI on the 360 and a crappy E-Machine at home. I won a 24 inch iMac from work and really wanted to play FF on it.

Bootcamp is a great option but I don't have a windows disk so I tried Cross Over Mac by codeweavers.

Installation went great until I tried to enter the PlayOnline Viewer. The music plays fine, but I get a black screen where the playonline viewer should be.

Reading around from others, there is thought that it has to do with DirectX compatibility and can be bypassed.

I'm unsure though, but I'll try to tweak what I can from Home.
