Fiio E17 USB not appearing in audio out

I recently bought the Fiio E17, and when I hook it up to my MBP mid-2009 running 10.8.5 to use it, the option for it doesn't appear in the system prefs. Any suggestions?

What do you mean you hooked it up? Did you hook it up by USB? Does it show up in /Applications/Utilities/System information's USB section? Does it show up in System Preferences->Sound, Output section?

It wasn't appearing in neither the System info, or sound options. But I restarted the computer and with the Fiio plugged in via USB and it worked
