I've noticed since I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, I now have certain "dead spots" on my Desktop where I can't put files. I can't drag files there (they just pop over to the closest "good" spot), and saving a file to the Desktop puts it in the next "good" spot, skipping over the "bad" ones. A video demonstrating this is attached. How can I fix this?

Desktop "Dead Spots"

Right click on the desktop; 'pull' the mouse to Show View Options; in the middle of the View Options is a pull-down menu 'Sort By:' ; move the mouse up or down the list. Your 'dead spots' are a desktop view option Snap to Grid. Hope that helps
