Hey,

I'm new to posting in this forum, but I have always found help searching the forums whenever I encountered a problem with my mac. This time I couldn't find an answer however, my problem is:

I was at a friends house yesterday and writing an essay to my college application that I have to send in two days (so I'm *very* stressed out). When we were done I closed my mac and went home. It then run dry for power (not enough to turn off the blinking light though). I plugged it in, read the essay again, put a dvd in and closed it afterwards. But when I opened it again, it was gone. It has disappeared completely. Spotlight can't find it, I can see it in the recent opened files in Word, but it can't open it. I always have show hidden files turned on. I tried to use "ls" in terminal but it's gone there too. And it isn't in trash as I have files I deleted before yesterday in trash.

I'm running 10.6.5 upgraded from Leopard three months ago.
I have plenty of free HD (30 gb)
I saved it as .docx using Word 2011
I haven't tinkered with my mac in any way
Oh and I can still see it in the .DS_store file btw
[Edit] It was placed at the Desktop in a folder with another essay (which luckily still is there)

What do I do?

Thanks in advance,
Mosbious
