Hi guys,
So i have a problem that i need help on. I am not super techy so please bear with me with the technical side of things.
Basic problem is when copying certain folders from my external hard drive to an external cloud backup drive i get the message some "Items cant be copied to PHASE DESIGNS because you dont have permission to read them." although i am the person who created the folders and files and everything in there has Read and Write permission.
in more detail: I run my own design business from home and before setting it up i bought a 3TB Seagate Central NAS drive to save all my files to, believing it was going to plug and play like it was advertised so i could access my files remotely etc as well as secure storage, it wasn't as easy as it was made out. So basically i had problems setting up the NAS drive, i got it working so i could share things around my house so work off the same files on my iMac and my Macbook which was great. I couldn't get remote access to work but was happy that i could have one shared space for all files.
This week suddenly i have had problems copying files from the NAS drive to my mac, saving files into certain folders on the NAS drive and just generally working with the NAS. I have not been happy with the NAS so decided to just get rid and start again. I purchased a 3TB hard drive to just put all files on and i am trying to use LiveDrive cloud storage backup which has Briefcase so i can work with files remotely or in different places on my macbook etc.
Only problem is every time i go to copy certain files, mainly image files and indesign it seems, that it comes up with the permissions problem and won't let me copy them to a different position. Why is this and how can i get it sorted as i can't transfer any large amounts of data anywhere! It is so frustrating and causing me to lost time which is money for my business.
PLEASE HELP GUYS, I NEED HELP!
----------
PS i have done the usual change of permissions in the get info box and done this for enclosed items on everything within the folders i want to move around.
I have also tried to check the permissions on the NAS drive but Seagate won't seem to give me an answer to get into my drive to change the permissions...i think this may be the problem but i just don't know.
