File sharing problems between MBA and iMac

I am having problems file sharing between my MBA and iMac. It is working from my iMac to the MBA but not the other way round. I am using the same user name on both Macs and using my Apple ID to authenticate.
I can see the iMac in the side bar of Finder but when I try to connect the window wobbles and does not connect. Screen sharing works fine but not file sharing. I have file sharing turned on on both Macs.

Can someone out there please help.

I seem to have resolved this problem. Instead of using my Apple ID to authenticate, I tried just my normal admin username and password for the iMac and it has now worked. I had also switched on Back to my Mac in iCloud on both Macs so not sure if this had something to do with it.

Thanks for following up with the resolution. It will help other people.

Had I seen your post earlier, I would probably suggest some kind of cloud syncronization service (SpiderOak, Dropbox). Manually copying files between machines seems old-fashioned nowadays But it depends on the size of the files, of course.
