I have a MacBook Pro 14 and a MacBook Air 11. I have file sharing enabled on both, with only my "Downloads" folder listed for access permissions. However, both computers can view the entire contents of the other computers SSD. This is not what I expected. I expected to only have access to the Downloads folder, or any other folder I added. Should someone else access my network, that seems to be a rather big security risk.

Is this happening because both computers are logged into the same iCloud account? Or, am I just not understanding file sharing permissions properly? I just can't imagine why it would immediately allow full access to everything.

Thank you

Did you login as administrator? If so you've access to everything.
Yes I do, locally on each computer, but there is no login on the network. If that's the case, it must be sharing with iCloud, otherwise I do not know how it could possibly know to authenticate me.
