I have a network with an iMac 10.6.8 and a laptop running Windows 7. I had the network sharing setup right so that I could modify shared files on both my laptop and mac from either computer. Went on a trip and took the laptop with me and used the hotel internet. Since I've returned, I can no longer put new files on the laptop from my mac. I can read/write from the laptop to the mac just fine though.

When moving a file to a shared folder on the laptop, i first am prompted to enter my password to allow finder to perform the operation (never had to do this before...).

Second, I am presented with the following warning: One or more items can’t be copied to <destination> because you don’t have permission to read them. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?

When attempting to edit an existing file, I receive the following error:
An attempt to write to this volume failed (MacOS Error code: -61)

I can click stop or continue, both of which seem to stop the copy operation entirely. I can copy files from the laptop to my mac just fine. But whenever I try to edit an existing file or write a new file to the laptop, I get errors and the operation fails. It is as if I do not have write permissions to the share.

I have tried changing the sharing/security properties on the share to Write & Read for "everyone," but I still cannot seem to write to the windows machine. Anyone have any idea how to get this working again?

EDIT: So, apparently when I went to the hotel and changed that network to a public (untrusted) one, it changed my share to be read only. I was checking the permissions of subdirectories within that share, all of which appeared to be correct. By going to the network and looking at the share, I was able to change the permissions of the share to be full control. Everything is now working back to how it was before. Windows permissions suck, btw.
