File Sharing wont stay on in my I-mac with 10.3.2?

This is probably a simple thing...I have an airport with an I-mac hooked ethernet directly into it, two other G4's (10.2.8) with wi-fi cards.

It was working before....but now I the Sharing system preference will not stay checked? I have apple talk on???
And while your all saving me on that easy one....any suggestions on setting up a home network with three computers and one of them being pluged directly into airport? I just want to be lazy and send lots of small files from each computer all the time....no big time network needed and just wondering the best way to set it all up?
