On copying an 80mb file from my Mac M2 Sequoia 15.7.3 from the Desktop to an SD Card it takes an age stuck
on Estimating Time then decides to move the file ?
I have since gotten hold of another SD card of the same make and type and files transfered to it OK, so itA defective card, or low rated SD card are two possible causes. Do you have another SD card to test with?

Make sure that .DS_Store files are not written to external media by executing
defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteUSBStores -bool true
