I am a relatively new user to macs and have recently encountered this problem in safari that has been bugging me. I downloaded and avi file a couple of weeks ago, but everytime I hit clear on the safari downloads log, it comes back after I reopen safari. It is only the one download that always does this, when I hit clear everything else goes away, but this keeps coming back. Sorry if this sounds a bit unclear its kinda hard to exlain exactly what I mean, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, try this - it's a bit rough and ready, but it should work..
With Safari closed:
in your Home folder /Library/Safari (= /Users/youraccountname/Library/Safari) find the file Downloads.plist and delete it

Start Safari.

Is the bugger still there?
