File System Verify or repair failed.

I am trying to create a partiton for my hard drive but it won't create a new one. It just says File System Verify or Repair Failed. I use a mid '07 mac. :apple:
 
Have you tried booting from your OS X disks and selecting Disk Utility. From there you can Verify and Repair permissions.
