tried this in the basics and help forum and got no response.
i transferred a bunch of folders and qt files from one mac to
another yesterday and now nothing plays. the files show as
being unix executables rather than qt files and i get an error,
i think -39, that they can't be played as they are not movie
files. i tried chmodding the permissions recursively through
the folder but no luck; they're on a drive on which permissions
are ignored anyway.
the process i used was to move the files first to an external
usb drive formatted to fat32, then i took that drive to the
new macpro and transferred them to its drive. the files appear
on the external fat32 drive as unix executables.
the first time i tried the transfer it crashed giving an error-36
goinjg from the original mac to the external fat32. after that
i used the command line (cp -Rpv from to) and the transfer was,
at least on the surface, successful.
how can i get these files to play? what did i overlook?
