The first part of this problem seems to have developed under 10.6.7, but I the second part may have been present under 10.6.6.
When I cross-mount my iMac and my MacBook Pro, both on one or another of my local networks, and try to drag-transfer files from local to remote, the following things happen:
(a) I am asked to authenticate;
(b) I am asked for permission to replace (if the file exists on remote);
(c) I am told the operation can't be completed because the file already exists on remote, even if it DIDN'T, beforehand;
(d) I find the file present on remote but with zero length, even if it was previously there with nonzero length.
When I transfer files from remote to local, everything happens as it should.
Interestingly, I used to sometimes see, when transferring files from local to remote, that only one file of a multi-file transfer would actually get moved; and if the files being moved were previously on remote, the one(s) that didn't get transferred and overwritten would have disappeared from remote. This could be overcome by transferring one file at a time.
I'm mystified by this behavior. Any clues would be helpful.
