My New Pro is coming soon, but when it arrives, I'm not sure how to transfer the files. I think I remember reading somewhere that someone simply used an Ethernet cable between the two computers. (Note: I am switching from a Macbook, white).

Is that impossible, or can I just plug in the Ethernet and go? I looked at Migration Assistant and it said that I needed a FW. Of course, I would then need a 400-800 converter.

Any help is appreciated!!

When you setup the new system it will ask if you have another mac to migrate from. You can connect with Firewire in target disk mode or ethernet. Just follow the on screen instructions. If FW you can use an adapter or some external drive housings have both or just take the drive out of the old Mac and put it in a cheap USB housing.

Cheers,
