File Transfer through Messenger

I am having problems trasfering files through messenger. Everytime I send something or vise versa, I get this message "We could not send this file because the connection is blocked. Please contact your network administrator or Internet service provider; they may be able to enable file transfers."
I am not behind a firewall, I can send and receive files through my pc at home, but on my mac I cant. I'm not sure if it has to do with my network settings (I am logged on as Admin)

I *think* this is a known issue, I have NEVER been able to get it to work either

I read up on this a while ago. They know it doesn't work, but they can't be bothered to fix it. It's sad, in the features they say "send files, even to a windows client." I can receive but not send.

Try Unblocking one of these on the firewall on your computer:
Port: 6891 (for MSN)
Or port: 5055 (for Yahoo Messenger)
Or port: 5190 (for AIM)


See if that works

I leave my firewall off all the time. MSN themselves admit it can not send files from the mac version. Firewalls aren't worth the trouble they cause... but that's just me.

I'm using it with in a airport network I've red somewhere i should forward port 6891 until 6901 but I don't know if it was for a windows messenger or the mac version wel i mapped port 6891 and 6901 wel i will try to forward them all i will let you know ... Somebody else found something?
