Hi,
I'm still getting used to my new mbp but this seems like a simple thing. I have a file on my desktop labeled .DS_Store I'm not exactly sure how it got there but I have been trying to put it in the trash and although I can put it in the trash when I try to empty my trash it ends up back on my desktop. Anyone know what this file is and can I trash it for good?:confused:

The .DS_Store file is a file that holds the information about that certain folder. It usually contains the stuff like icon arangement, background image and similar stuff. Its completely normal to have it, and you cant get rid of it. If you delete it, it will just be recreated. The weird part about your problem is that you can even see the .DS_Store. It should be invisible by default. Did you by chance enable the "show hidden files" option in programs like onyx or tinker tool?
