Files app option to save to iPad from SMB share

Is anyone else having trouble saving files from an SMB share to apps on the iPad in 14? It worked beautifully in 13 but in 14 it opens the "target" app in question and then nothing happens. Airdrop still works OK from a Mac to the iPad.
