Not sure when this started but now every time I look at a file I have stored in Files, once I close it I’m stuck with this “preview” window which appears to be an app in the Files app or something. It’s annoying. I just want to open my file, close, still be in the folder I started in and be able to open another file. Can I turn this off ?

Yes. Press and hold on the file in Files app, then select Open With from the menu, then Preview With Quick Look.

You may need to do this once for each file type you preview through Files.
