I'm a web developer, running OSX 10.6.6 on my mbp. Recently I've noticed in the www folder that all my clients sites are stored each file has a duplicate with (2) in the file name, ie 'index.php' and 'index (2).php'.

The funny thing is is that the file with (2) is always zero k in size, and an automator workflow to find all files with (2) in the title returns no results, as does spotlight. I use livedrive for off-site backups and time machine, but both of these have not caused this issue for me in the past so dont think they are related.

As I go through each directory deleting these files they just reappear again, very frustrating as these files cause FTP issues.

Any ideas anyone?! Thanks in advance
