Files edited after printing?

In Lion, this is a non-issue.

But, in all previous OSs, whenever I print a document (Pages, TextEdit, etc) the document changes as if I had made an edit. Even if I save, then print, after the print dialog screen exits and I try to quit the app/close the window, it says there are unsaved edits, etc etc.

Any ideas as to why?
