Hi everyone,

Before I start I'll give you my system specs:

Macbook Pro Early 2011
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Boot ROM Version: MBP81.0047.B2A
SMC Version (system): 1.69f3
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

The DVD Drive was removed, and a OCZ-Vertex2 SSD 120 GB was installed, along with a Toshiba HDD 750 GB 5400 RPM.

I had OSX Lion for 3 years, and about 3 months ago I upgrade to OSX Yosemite. Everything was fine about a week ago. My apps started to behave abnormally, and files from the Toshiba HDD started to disappear: for example, I would open a music folder that had 1000 files, and it seemed to be empty; then after 10 minutes or so the files would appear. It seems like the system only show files when it feels like showing them.

I thought my system was ****ed up so I formatted the Vertex SSD (I did the 7 step security process, that completely erase everything), and did a clean install of Yosemite.

Then not only files from the HDD started to miss; also files from the SSD and my external WD 2TB HDD (Which is new 6 months), started to disappear and reappear randomly.

I ran SMARt UTILITY software, and it tells me the VERTEX SSD is FINE and it says PASS; and for the TOSHIBA HDD it says FAILED in RED.

I then did a fast format to the Vertex SSD (1 step security on DISK Utility), and installed LION OS X 10.8, and the problem persisted.

After that I tried to repair the TOshiba HDD with Disk Utility, and it tells me the HDD can not be repaired, is ****ed up and I should back it up as soon as possible, and reformat it.

I am doing that at this moment and the process is super slowly: just to transfer 500 GB from the Toshiba HDD to my external USB 3.0 WD it takes 8 hours (but at least I am recovering the data).

My concern is the following;
what is wrong with my system, is there a deadly malware, or virus on my Toshiba HDD?
is the Toshiba HDD malfunctioning causing the rest of the Drives to be malfunctioning?
is the Vertex2 SSD still working?
if I trash the Toshiba and the Vertex, and buy new SSD and HDD, will my system behave properly?
is there something else wrong?
how can I check?

Thank you for your answers and help in advance,
