files play in iPod_Control but skip after coppied to computer

I'm running 10.4.10. iTunes cannot read the data off of my iPod. However, I do not have the music backed up anywhere else and so it's imperative that I recover it. I've made the iPod_Control directory visable via the setfile -a v command. The music is playable from the iPod via the preview option in Finder. However, when I copy the music to the computer, it's not playable by iTunes, quicktime VLC etc. If I drag the file directly to iTunes, the file will play, but it is fragmented, skips. The file plays fine while on the iPod, but something happens to it when it's copied from it. Please help me, I couldn't stand to loose all 50 GBs!
