Hello,

I have a 1 TB Western Digital drive that is in an external enclosure and connected via USB to my Macbook. The drive has worked fine for three months, but now when I try to transfer files to it they transfer typically to about 8 MB and then stop, saying the file is corrupted. Disk Utility says the drive is not supported, though it is formatted in MS-DOS (was formatted by this Macbook actually). And I can still play files from the drive. It typically is not mounting in Finder unless I turn it off then turn it back on. Then it appears. I have heard this enclosure does not have a great power supply, and I can hear something squeaking almost constantly (not sure if it is the fan or the drive).

Has anyone experienced similar problems? If so, what did you find the problem to be?

Thanks!
