Hi,
Today i have tried out my old powermac 7500 and it was still starting up. I noticed that there are some files i wanted to transfer to my new computer (mac mini m4). What is the most easy way to do this?
The 7500 has an ata card installed and the HDs are IDE drives. It has no usb port. It runs OS 9.1.
To solve the problem i copied the files to a dos formatted IDE drive and installed the drive in an old PC with usb ports (usb2) and copied the files to an usb stick. Usb2 is a real pain, but at least it works.
Are there more elegant ways for the filetransfer?

Doesn't the PowerMac 7500 have 10Mbps ethernet onboard?
But setting up file transfers is difficult since AppleTalk over TCP/IP from Mac OS 9 only works with Mac OS X Leopard or earlier.

On the new Mac you need some third party stuff or extra setup. An ftp server can send or receive files. A web server can transmit files.

There exist network file servers that supports both old Macs and new Macs.

Can netatalk 4.0 solve this issue? Install it on the new Mac?

You could just as well reverse it and use the third party software on the old Mac.

Thursby DAVE (macintoshgarden.org) should be able to connect to a file share hosted on the M4.
