Filevault 2 on APFS fusion drive

Having issues with my fusion drive. It has been upgraded to APFS and has FileVault 2 encryption. My question is will FileVault cause drive read and write issues. I have noticed when opening files or apps, I sometimes get a spinning beach ball. RAM is ok, as I ran a test.

Am I being too security conscious?
