FileVault & HDD Space

Recently turned on FileVault and encrypted my home folder, but why if I right-click then Get Info on my home folder it says I have 998.56GB free space, when my HDD is only 500GB?

This thread may be related. I think I remember one other thread on this, but didn't spot it in my search.

What OS version do you have?
