Does anyone encrypt with file vault?

Unless you have a very high need for that level of security, it's not worth the risk of bricking your machine. I mean if you forget or lose the password, all data is gone!

It works extremely well, however you need to ask yourself if you really need it or not.

Yes. It works. There's no risk of bricking your machine. You could lose all your data but only by forgetting the password you use every day.

I'm using it now on my "travel" MacBook Air 11" and it works great. It is easy to write down the password on a post-it note and stick it in the retail box you stored away. That way you will have it when you go to sell the machine and need to remove the password that you probably forgot by then.
