I can login to my ftp server (Hosted by Newnet i think), but i get the message:

"failed to retrieve directory listing"

Any ideas of where this problem might be occuring? I have never used FileZilla before so wondering if it is the app or the hosting server?

Hey,

I would seriously consider CyberDuck instead of Filezilla. Cyberduck is a much nicer Mac-like client. If it doesn't work in Cyberduck then it's probably something with your server.

The "failed to retrieve directory listing" usually occurs because of a passive port problem either on the client or server end. Did you change anything with your router/firewall on either end?

Thanks Zelet,

I forced it to use Active mode and worked instantly.

Thanks for the help. I'll check out CyberDuck as the FileZilla logo is ugly and is making my dock look messy. :)

Glad I could help. Another great thing about CyberDuck is that it supports WebDav (HTTP/S) in the beta version.

That was a huge plus for me but probably not for many other people.
