Hi,
I have two Macs both with osx 10.5.6 and both are intel based. Both are connected to a router with ethernet cords.
I connect and disconnect external hard drives from them all the time and file share between the two computers the data on the external harddrives. It worked for 6 months then I stated getting an error off and on and now 9 months later sharing between the computers always gives the error. The external hardrives appear under the shared panel on left hand side of the finder window but whenever I click on a external drive that is being shared I get the error "The original item cannot be found."
I have repaired permissions on both computers multiple times, I have made sure the firewall setting is set to "allow all incoming connections" on both machines, I have made sure both computers have a unique computer name, sharing for the external drive is enabled and "everyone" is set to "Read&Write", and I have tried to delete alias (nothing happens) and fix alias (I just end up selecting the same drive again). Nothing works.
Appreciate any more ideas or links.
