filter view in imail

I have just switched to Imail from Outlook and that is going well. However, one thing driving me nuts is I can't figure out how to create a filtered view of email. In outlook I could filter by various attributes to see all emails from a person, on a topic, within a date range etc. Can anyone help me do this in Imail?
