FIM and POSTNET barcode pdf's from Post Office

I frequently need to use artwork for envelopes provided by the post office, I'm sure some of you out there have as well.

There are tow issues
1) the "Black" is not really black but a cmyk mix
2) The fonts are never embedded in the pdf

In Acrobat I can grayscale it using preflight, but that still leaves the font problem which sometimes doesn't RIP correctly.

In that case I usually make a bitmap tif of the whole artwork.

Just looking for some feedback if anyone else runs into this.
