I imported a 6 minute long movie. Now, when I edit out a small clip and drag it to the Browser and attempt to rename it, it renames the main movie clip too! The same thing happens when I try to rename the big clip back to the original...it changes the smaller clip to the same name!

This did NOT happen in FCE 1 or FCP 3 and up, as far as I know...WTF IS UP WITH IT??

Thanks, BTW, for your help.

To have it be a trimmed down version of your clip with a new name you have to make it a sub-clip. In FCP HD you can just press command-U and start typing your new name. Or you can go Modify > Make sub-clip and start typing your new name. Now you should have a shortened version of your original with a new name in the Browser.

That would work, but that option is greyed out. I see it, and I see the "Command+U" next to it, but it is greyed out. The only option that might apply is "Make Master Clip" but I don't really think so...

Thank you!
