hello i have been trying to import files to start a final cut express project. I have tried all file kids (.mov .DV etc....) but i still get a message saying File Error: 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown, all of the files i am trying to import where on dvds that i downloaded to my computer. I tried to import another file that was a .mov file, that was not downloaded from dvds and it worked. so i think there might be something wrong with the files that i downloaded, however they do work in IMovie and i can view them on quicktime player, i have enough space and everything on my computer, if any one can help it would be great i really need it.

What is the exact format/codec of your files? This message shows up in FCE/P when the app doesn't know the format.
Either run your footage to MPEG Streamclip to transcode it to AIC or export it out of iMovie with the best image settings.

they are all .mov files right now but i can change them, how would i run my footage to MPEG streamclip exactly?

----------

H.264, AAC, Text, these are also the actual codecs of the files

You just open them in Streamclip and export them to AIC. File > Export to Quicktime, then choose Apple Intermediate Codec in the Compressor field.

How did you end up with "Text"? Which app does File Info suggest to open your footage with?
