I was a long time user of Avid, although it has been a while since I have changed careers. I just got an i7 iMac and would like to use something other than iMovie, but Avid is not compatible with 10.6.6 as of yet. I used older versions of Final Cut, and can get away with Express now a days. I heard rumors of an update so I'm wondering if I should wait. Any feedback on the ease of crossing over from Avid to final cut express, and any word on a new version?

Only Apple knows when Apple is going to update software and going from Avid to FCE is going to be a noticeable step down.
